Starting from the Raven at 10.30am. Out up to the lancs and on to Lane Head, over through Lowton passing Sofology, right to go down via the Harrow pub (sadly closed) and down to the canal. On the canal we go via Scotsman Flash, into Wigan and up the 17(?) locks to top lock, along the canal a bit then into Haigh Hall (hopefully the scaffold will be removed). Coffee at the Haigh barns then back through the plantations and out near the Cherry Gardens pub, down through Beach Hill and onto the canal. On the canal we'll go through Wigan Pier then retract the route by Scotsmans Flash but continue on to the Boat House pub at Astley. Dropping down to the lancs again and back in at the Greyhound to the beer that awaits at the Raven.
Overall it's about 36 miles though we do have an option to cut short near the Greyhound and go the Raven in a more direct route but if the weather is good (can't complain last week or so), the extra bit is a good detour.

This ride will suit all levels of fitness, it's not a race. Younger riders with road awareness welcome, we do hit a few roads that could be a bit busy (mainly through Lowton to the canal).
We carry a few spares and tools on every ride with spare inner tubes but these are mainly for standard wheel sizes. 27.5, 29, 700c and 650b along with puncture kits and pumps. If you have an odd wheel size it is advisable to bring along a spare tube or 2.
The ride is open to anyone who fancies a trek out, Road/Gravel/MTB/Hybrid/e-bikes, just turn up before the set off time.
The ride should take around 4 hours with the coffee (beer) stop(s) and a final beer (coffee) stop back at the Raven.
